Élise Bergeron

Through her contemporary dance practice, Élise Bergeron is interested in human encounters. Since graduating from L'École de danse contemporaine de Montréal in 2010, she has collaborated primarily with Emmanuel Jouthe, with whom she has developed a close relationship with the spectator in a performance context. Her artistic approach is also forged through her diverse experiences as a performer. She has danced with Manuel Roque, Stéphane Gladyszweski, Katia-Marie Germain, Bettina Szabo, Alain Francoeur, Audrey Rochette and Lynda Gaudreau, as well as with Bouge de là, La Marche du Crabe, La Fratrie, Les Imprudanses and Cassiopée Danse. Through a variety of creative collaborations (Atypique-Le Collectif, Lisanne Goodhue, Philippe Poirier), she tackles questions about the individual. In recent years, her work has focused on the creation of BLAAWE, a hymn to time and the transformation of the human being through his or her spiritual quest. At the same time, she is developing a pedagogical approach in various contexts. She assists Sylvain Lafortune in the partner work classes of the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal's professional training program and teaches recreational classes for adults. In 2017, she began training as a dance teacher.
