partner workshop
Description
The aim of this workshop is to revisit the foundations and principles of working as partners between two bodies. The workshop refines and fosters the possibilities of encounter, exchange and dialogue through confident dance. It's an opportunity for those familiar with partner work to reappropriate it through play and ease in a safe context. For others, it's a chance to discover its creative potential. A world unfolds before us when our dance meets that of another person. It's a deep immersion that allows us to learn more about ourselves and our relationship with others and our environment.
The workshop was created by two artists with extensive performing and teaching experience: David Rancourt and Sara Harton. They co-facilitate this workshop, drawing on over 10 years of collaboration as dance partners. Their varied dance and teaching backgrounds, combined with their great complicity, make this a unique workshop in the contemporary dance landscape.
Workshop program
Thematic explorations and exercises will enable participants to work on the notions of weight, listening, integrity, trust, momentum/timing and agility between self and others.
The workshop is available as a long or short version. The long version consists of 5 workshops of 2 hours each, for a total of 10 hours. The short version, condensed into 4 hours, is offered over one day.
Target audience
The workshop is aimed at teenagers (aged 15 and over) and adults at semi-professional and professional levels or in training.
It is designed for people with some previous dance experience. Knowledge of one's own body is a prerequisite for opening up to other bodies.
