François Richard
Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, François began his dance training at the DancEast Dance Centre and completed his studies at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. Since, his professional career has taken him across more than 20 countries worldwide. He has danced for companies such as Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal, the Atlantic Ballet Theater of Canada, José Navas / Compagnie Flak, Sylvain Émard Danse, Andrea Peña and Arists, ezdanza, Sinha Dance, and as a principal dancer for Ballet Ouest de Montréal. He has also worked for choreographers such as José Navas, Sylvain Émard, Shawn Hounsell, Andrea Peña, Edgar Zendejas, Victor Quijada, Anne Plamondon, David Rancourt, Jorden Morris, Mauricio Navas, Claude Caron, Roger Sinha and Igor Dobrovolsky. In 2011 he danced in the short film ORA, produced by the NFB, nominated for a Genie award as best live action drama in 2012. François has also taught for schools and companies in Canada, including Concordia University, BJM-Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal, Ballet Ouest de Montréal, DancEast Dance Center and the Atlantic Dance Academy In 2014 he joined the board of directors and the teaching faculty of Danse à la Carte. Today he is based in Montreal as a teacher and independant artist.
