Michel F Côté
Michel F Côté was born in Montreal the year a ship – the submarine USS Nautilus – first travelled under the North Pole ice cap.
Since then, he has composed extensively for theatre and dance: he has had more than a hundred collaborations there to date. With Catherine Tardif, he is co-artistic director of the dance company Et Marianne et Simon. His musical mastery is documented in the following ensembles: Mecha Fixes Clocks, Klaxon Gueule, Jane & the magic bananas, Pink Saliva, Vulgarités, and Tiari Kese – duet with himself. His concerts and recordings have been critically acclaimed at home, abroad and elsewhere.
A multi-instrumentalist, Côté plays like no one else, and no one wants to play like him. Without knowing why, he has created four choreographic creations: L’intranquillité (2003, Tangente), 63 appearances (with Catherine Tardif, Dominique Porte, Estelle Clareton, David Pressault and Emmanuel Jouthe, 2004, Danse-Cité), Schizes sur le sundae (with Catherine Lavoie-Marcus, 2013, Tangente), and 6.3 fainting spells (with Catherine Tardif, Sophie Corriveau, Fortner Anderson, Marc Boivin and Benoît Lachambre, 2014, EMeS/Danse-Cité/Agora de la danse).
