Since obtaining his diploma in production theatre from the Option Théâtre du Collège Lionel-Groulx in 1983, Jocelyn Proulx has worked for several theatre companies as a technical or production director. In 1984, he co-founded the Théâtre de l’Opsis with graduates of his class. It is within this company and many others that, since then, he has fulfilled his passion for lighting design.
From 1988 to 2003, he worked as technical director and tour lighting designer for various theatre companies, including Théâtre Petit à Petit, Les Deux Mondes compagnie de théâtre, Théâtre Repère and the O Vertigo dance company.
From 2004 to 2014, he settled in Montreal where he held the position of Technical Coordinator at the Maison Théâtre. Parallel to this work, he became a multidisciplinary collaborator for the PPS Danse company and returned to his “first loves” as lighting designer at the Théâtre de l’Opsis.
Since 2009, he has been teaching basic lighting techniques at the Option Théâtre du CÉGEP Lionel-Groulx and, more recently, he has been working as a resource teacher with management and stage techniques students on the set during the production of their shows.
