Pierre-Paul Savoie
Choreographer-performer and director Pierre-Paul Savoie founded the company PPS Danse in 1989. To date, the company has presented some twenty works in about ten countries in North America and Europe. Whatever the creative cycle to which they belong, these pieces are all marked by interdisciplinarity in their form and by humanity in their content. Renowned for his works with strong images and relevant questions, he has worked for the stage, cinema and television, often collaborating with major theatrical, musical and circus institutions.
Pierre-Paul Savoie shared with Jeff Hall the prestigious Jacqueline Lemieux Prize. In 2004, his contribution to the dissemination of dance was recognized by the Prix Attitude, awarded by the ROSEQ (Réseau de diffuseurs de l’Est du Québec). Last February, the Bourse RIDEAU unanimously awarded the 2008 Prix Hommage to Pierre-Paul Savoie. The purpose of this award was to highlight the fervour with which he has travelled throughout Quebec’s venues over the past 20 years and for his steadfast commitment to making contemporary dance known to as many people as possible. In addition, Pierre-Paul Savoie reinforces his desire to contribute to the awakening of new generations by now including works for young audiences in the repertoire of PPS Danse.
