PARTNER WORKSHOP
About the workshop
The goal of this workshop is to revisit the foundations and principles of partner work between two bodies.
The workshop refines and opens up possibilities for encounter, exchange and dialogue through confident dance. It’s an opportunity for those familiar with partner work to reappropriate it through play and ease in a safe context. For others, it’s a chance to discover its full creative potential.
A whole world unfolds before us when our dance meets that of another person. It’s a deep dive that teaches us a lot about ourselves and our relationship with others and our environment.
Thematic explorations and exercises will enable participants to work with notions of weight, listening, integrity, trust, momentum/timing and agility between self and others.
The workshop was created by two artists with extensive performing and teaching experience: David Rancourt and Sara Harton. They teach the workshop together, having danced together for over 10 years. Their diverse backgrounds in the art of dance and in teaching, combined with their great complicity, make this a unique workshop in today’s dance landscape.
The workshop is available in long and short versions. The long version consists of 5 workshops of 2 hours each, for a total of 10 hours. The short version is a condensed version of 4 hours given over one day.
For who ?
The workshop is aimed at teenagers (aged 15 and over) and adults at semi-professional and professional levels or in training.
It is intended for those who already have some dance experience. Knowledge of one’s own body is a prerequisite for opening up to other bodies.
