Nos Saisons, in the midst of creation
WOOD/SPRING – FIRE/SUMMER – EARTH/INTERSEASON – METAL/AUTUMN – WATER/WINTER/
“The initial idea was really to find a correspondence between natural events and the cycle of the seasons, everything that manifests itself in the world, like the storm, the leaves /…/, the tides, that all these phenomena exist within us.”
David Rancourt, on Nos Saisons.
Research and creation continue in the studio with our artistic team.
Artist of the month
Hoor Malas
Hoor Malas is a dance and movement artist from Syria who recently moved to Montreal.
She began her training at the age of eight at the Damascus Ballet School. In 2007, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in dance from the Higher Institute of Arts in Damascus-Syria, and her diploma in contemporary dance from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Leeds-UK, in 2008. On her return from England, Hoor taught contemporary dance techniques for ten years at the Damascus Conservatoire of Art. She began choreographing in 2014. Through her creations, Hoor examines social issues influenced by personal experiences. Some of her choreographic creations: ‘Regression’ 2016, ‘Three Seconds’ 2018, ‘Hanging’ 2019, ‘Dust’ 2020-21 and her new solo piece ‘If my body had a name’ are works in progress. Hoor places five pillars at the heart of his work: music, rhythm, intimacy, physicality and sharing. We are delighted to welcome Hoor to the Nos Saisons team.
